FAM Boosts Capacity of Media Officers to Drive Football Growth
The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has stepped up efforts to enhance the professionalism and capacity of media officers, recognizing their influence in promoting football and connecting clubs with the wider public.

This commitment was highlighted by the Chairperson of FAM’s Media Ad-hoc Committee, Gray Kazako Phiri, during the opening of a two-day media capacity-building workshop involving representatives from Super League clubs, National Division teams, and regional football associations.
“As FAM leads the agenda to transform the game, media officers are not just messengers they are architects of the narrative that connects teams to the nation,” said Kazako.

He underscored the importance of ethical reporting, digital engagement, and consistent storytelling in building a more transparent and engaging football environment.
The workshop brought together media officers from all 16 Super League clubs, 12 National Division teams, the Super League of Malawi, and the four regional football associations. The training sessions focused on digital communication, social media management, content creation, and media ethics.

One of the participants, Gome Cedrick of Mzuzu City Hammers, described the training as timely and impactful.
“This training has equipped us with practical skills that will help improve how we communicate our club’s activities, especially through digital platforms,” Cedrick said.
FAM considers the initiative a crucial part of its “Transformation of the Game” agenda, aimed at raising the standard of football communication in Malawi and strengthening the relationship between football stakeholders and the public.
