Jaffu’s Promotion Symbolizes Stability and Professionalism in MDF Leadership

In a move symbolizing continuity and professionalism within the Malawi Defence Force (MDF), President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has officially decorated Lieutenant General George Jaffu as a four-star General and new Chief of the MDF.

The ceremony, held at the President’s private residence, Page House in Mangochi, marked a significant moment in the military leadership transition following the departure of General Paul Valentino Phiri.

Speaking during the event, President Mutharika praised General Jaffu’s distinguished service, describing him as a seasoned and dedicated officer who has earned the trust of the nation through years of commitment to duty.

“General Jaffu is a distinguished gentleman who has had a distinguished career within the MDF,” said Mutharika. “I congratulate him and urge him to continue upholding the highest standards of professionalism as he leads the Malawi Defence Force.”

General Jaffu’s appointment comes at a critical time as the country looks to maintain stability, national security, and institutional integrity within the armed forces.
