Malaw Strengthens Global Ties as Chakwera Welcomes New Diplomatic Partners
President Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera has reaffirmed Malawi’s commitment to international cooperation and development through diplomacy, as he welcomed six new non-resident ambassadors at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe on Thursday.

The presentation of letters of credence marks a strategic step in broadening Malawi’s foreign relations footprint. Among the diplomats were Ms. Maria del Rosario Mina-Rojas (Colombia), Ms. Lillian Tomitom (Kenya), Ms. Cuthbert Carlson Nadeska Imara (Nicaragua), Mr. Silaj Ahmad Khan (Pakistan), Mr. Illyas Ali Hassan (Somalia), and Mr. Huseiyn Barbaros Dicle (Turkey).
By embracing new partnerships, the Chakwera administration continues to champion diplomacy as a vehicle for economic growth, knowledge exchange, and global cooperation.

The newly accredited envoys are expected to play a pivotal role in enhancing collaboration in areas such as trade, health, education, and sustainable development.
State House officials described the event as “a significant move towards reinforcing Malawi’s place on the global stage.”
