The Maranatha Academy National Scholarship Programme, which targets 500 students, is on track, as the institution has identified 485 successful students out of 6,000 applicants, leaving 15 more places up for grabs.

Maranatha Academy Managing Director Dr. Ernest Kaonga said this in Blantyre on Wednesday during a media briefing.

Kaonga said the institution is currently conducting a verification process for the 485 students who passed the initial selection for the scholarships, with officials investigating discrepancies in students’ results to ensure the integrity of the process and identify deserving candidates.

“The process is highly rigorous to ensure that only deserving candidates are chosen,” said Kaonga.

“Ongoing verification is being conducted to address grey areas and discrepancies in students’ results.”

The scholarship programme is organised in conjunction with Sharda University of India and costs Maranatha Academy approximately K24 million per student, totalling roughly K12 billion for the 500 recipients.

According to Kaonga, the partnership aims to provide students with a strong academic foundation and enable them to transition to Sharda University through further scholarship opportunities.
