Liverpool Star Diogo Jota Dies in Car Accident
Liverpool footballer Diogo Jota has died in a tragic car accident.
The Portuguese international, Jota, aged 28, died alongside his brother Andre Silva in an accident that occurred in the Zamora region of Spain.
Andre Silva, aged 26, was also a professional footballer who played for Portuguese club Penafiel.
According to a statement from the BBC, the two brothers died around 00:30 on Thursday.
Reports indicate that their Lamborghini veered off the road due to a tyre burst while overtaking another vehicle, after which the car caught fire.
Jota had recently married his longtime partner Rute Cardoso last month. The couple had three children.
Jota was instrumental in helping Liverpool win the Premier League title last season and had also represented Portugal in the Nations League finals against Spain in June.
