MK, Bico Equal Power in Mzuzu FCB Under -19
MK Academy gave away a lead twice to equal power with Bico Optical in Mzuzu FCB Under – 19 first leg semifinal played at Botanic ground in Mzuzu.
The home team were first to find the back of the net just three minutes into the game through Junior Jomole Phiri but the visitors replied with an equalizer from Norman Kamkwende at eight minutes but the battle was far from over as Captain Moses Singini restored the lead at 21 minutes with a clinical finish, teams went for pep talk with the home team leading 2-1.
The visitors made changes and completely changed the game with fast pressing football tearing apart MK defence through wings but their front men kept squandering chances only for defender Moses Langa to drive into the net between goal custodian for Mk Academy Luke Harawa.
Mphatso Chihami MK Academy mentor accepted that their game plan didn’t work out due to injuries while sounding confident of proceeding after second leg.
“It was a game of two halves we played well in the first half and they did well in the second half, injuries disturbed us but I have hope we will score and proceed next weekend at Chibavi.” said Chihami
William Momo Sissoko Bico FC Coach said early goals affected their game plan especially in the first half.
“We conceded an early goals which disturbed my players, we equalized and then conceded again but at half time we told our boys to use wings which worked out going into second stage we will do better.” Sissoko said.
Burton Mphande Mzuzu District Youth Football Secretary says the league is achieving it’s goals of nurturing talents.
“We are impressed with the play and you have seen the fans enjoying football here we expect the best as we go for second leg next weekend with finals to be followed the other week.” Mphande said.
On Saturday in another first leg semifinal Mseteka Welding Hammers will go into the second leg with a 2-1 leg against Chibavi Home Sweepers.
Mk Academy are the current holders of the district and regional FCB Under 19 league.
