Malawi’s Vice President returns from Rwanda, strengthens bilateral relations
Malawi’s Vice President, Dr. Michael Usi, returned to Lilongwe on Monday following his representation of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera at the inauguration of Rwandan President Paul Kagame. Dr. Usi described the trip as “beneficial,” noting that it had significantly strengthened the ties between Malawi and Rwanda.
During the visit, it was announced that the two countries are set to sign 11 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at enhancing cooperation in various sectors, including security, agriculture, tourism, and mining.
Before departing Kigali, Dr. Usi commended Rwanda for its discipline and cleanliness, attributes he credited with contributing to the country’s development. He expressed a desire for Malawi to adopt similar practices to foster its own growth.
Dr. Usi’s trip is considered a crucial move towards deepening bilateral relations between Malawi and Rwanda, reflecting a commitment to mutual cooperation and development.
