The Chinese and Indian shop representatives and workers representatives have come into agreement after holding talks on the workers’ wages for a while.

Rpresentative of the Indian, Chinese community John Kudzala has confirmed with this publication saying that the businesses are now back to normal.

“Business operations are back to normal now, we finally agreed to raise the wages to the minimum of K80,000 thousand kwacha, and this not including other allowances. We met with both parties Labour office, workers union and all relevant leaders.

“Closure of shops in two days was more painful to us as well as Government because we made losses and Government also lost revenue from our everyday sells, so it’s something that affected both of us,” said Kudzala.

Manuel Kasim one of the workers said he is happy that atleast their demands have been considered by the bosses.

“It’s not enough the way the Malawi economy, but am happy that atleast the wage is up to reach out demand, I want to thank my fellow workers to come together and fight for this,” he said.

This means that the wage is up with 60 percent.
