Police hunt for murder suspect in Mzimba

Police at Jenda have instituted a man hunt for Mphovu Davie Nkhambule on suspicion that he stubbed to death Cain Ngwira and severely injured Holman Ngwira, a brother to Cain now deceased at a drinking spree at Luwerezi in Mzimba.

It is alleged that Cain Ngwira and his two brothers went to a drinking place run by their sister on August 18, 2023 for drinking and they were later joined by Mphovu Nkhambule the suspect. Around 22:00 hours the sister decided to close the shebeen and this did not go well with Mphovu whom started a fight with the three brothers.

In the hit of events Mphovu stabbed Holman on the shoulder with a knife and later stabbed Cain on the neck who was trying rescue his brother and fell unconscious in the pool of blood.

Following a report, officers from Jenda Police station together with medical personnel from Jenda Rural Hospital visited the crime scene where a knife was recovered with blood stains, Post-mortem conducted singled out severe loss of blood as the cause of death.

Meanwhile, investigations are under way to apprehend the suspect. On this note, Police ask well-wishers who may have information about the assailant to inform them so that the suspect is arrested and justice is served.
