Nsanje Leaders Pledge Support for Marginalized Groups in 2025 Elections
Local leaders in Nsanje have made a commitment to create an inclusive environment for youth, women, and persons with disabilities, empowering them to participate in the upcoming general elections.
Senior Chief Chimombo emphasized that these individuals have the potential to deliver just like anyone else.
Bishop Rodgers Alufazema, chairperson of Nsanje pastors fraternal, echoed this sentiment, stating that leadership capabilities are not defined by physical appearance, age, or sex.
This stance was reinforced during a stakeholders meeting organized by WORLEC and Oxfam, with financial backing from the European Union.
The organizations have pledged to provide necessary support to aspiring women, youth, and people with disabilities, enabling them to contest in the 2025 elections. This move aims to promote diversity and representation in the political landscape.
Similar initiatives have been implemented elsewhere, such as the strategic reflection meeting for women chairpersons of election management bodies in Africa, which aimed to promote women leadership in electoral management.
Additionally, there have been calls for increased participation of marginalized groups in politics, recognizing the importance of their contributions.
