Msongwe Ward Residents Promise to Back Chirambo
Residents of Msongwe Ward have expressed strong support for Malawi Congress Party (MCP) candidate Francis Chirambo ahead of the September 16 local government elections.
A recent household survey conducted in the ward, covering about 125 families, revealed that Chirambo is emerging as the people’s favorite despite contesting for the very first time. The findings show that 7 out of every 10 households interviewed said they will vote for him.
The remaining households were split between backing fellow aspirant Manson Waya and an independent female candidate, while a small number of respondents indicated they were still undecided.
Community members who participated in the survey pointed to Chirambo’s accessibility and campaign promises as reasons for their support. They said they are hopeful that, if elected, he will bring fresh ideas and champion development initiatives that will address some of the pressing challenges facing the ward.
With just days to go before the polls, the survey suggests Chirambo enjoys a comfortable lead over his competitors, though the race is still open as undecided voters remain a factor.
