Kasunda Promotes Malawi Investment Opportunities at Guangxi Business Forum in China
Malawi’s Presidential aspirant Jani Grey Kasunda has intensified efforts to attract foreign investment to Malawi by engaging Chinese business leaders and industry experts during a high-level business networking forum in Guangxi Province, China.
Kasunda participated in a thematic exchange session held after the successful “Gathering Teochew Business Talents in Guangxi, Linking to the Global Market” matchmaking conference, where discussions focused on expanding the international presence of Guangxi’s Specialized, Refined, Differential and Innovative (SRDI) enterprises.
The forum brought together government officials, business executives, industry associations and international development partners to explore cross-border industrial cooperation, overseas market expansion and investment opportunities, particularly in Africa.
During the discussions, Kasunda highlighted Malawi’s investment potential in renewable energy, power infrastructure, healthcare, intelligent technology and industrial development.
He said Malawi is implementing reforms aimed at accelerating industrial growth and creating a conducive environment for foreign investors.
“Malawi is actively promoting industrial upgrading and welcomes partnerships in renewable energy, pharmaceutical manufacturing, intelligent technologies and infrastructure development. We are looking forward to working with innovative Chinese companies to create mutually beneficial investments,” Kasunda said.
He emphasized that increased collaboration between Malawi and Chinese enterprises would contribute to job creation, technology transfer and sustainable economic growth.
Business representatives from Guangxi expressed interest in exploring opportunities in African markets, saying the engagement provided valuable insight into Malawi’s investment climate and the continent’s growing demand for technology-driven industries.

The exchange brought together several senior officials and business leaders, including Huang Weijian, Deputy Director-General of Gongxin News Agency; Yin Zheng, Executive Director of the agency’s International Communication Center; Hong Qingsong from the Guangxi Federation of Industry and Commerce; Huang Tao, Secretary-General of the Guangxi Chamber of SRDI Enterprises; and executives from companies operating in the new energy, pharmaceutical and intelligent technology sectors.
The forum focused on practical business cooperation, including market access, industrial partnerships and policy support for companies seeking to expand internationally.
Organisers said the discussions marked a transition from general dialogue to concrete business matchmaking, with particular attention on developing projects in renewable energy, biotechnology and advanced manufacturing.
The Guangxi Chamber of SRDI Enterprises, established in August 2025, currently has 178 member companies operating in sectors including advanced manufacturing, information technology, biomedicine, new materials and renewable energy. The chamber continues to promote international partnerships through China’s Belt and Road Initiative, connecting its members with emerging markets across Africa and beyond.
