Political activist Bon Kalindo says leaders are born and not made or bought claiming that he is the 12th-born son of Jacob-Joseph who has suffered various forms of arrests from countrymen but has not been shaken and is still fighting to liberate the country from MCP dictatorship.

Kalindo said his power rests in the hands of God who has made him take away the fear of arrests, killed, and imprisonment challenging the government that even if he can be made to appear in seven courts per day, he will remain the son of the poor man and stand for justice.

He has assured Malawians that he started activism while he was at school claiming that his classmates and a Non- non-governmental organization (NGO) implementing its interventions in Mulanje-Project Hope, can stand to testify more about him and his name Bon Kalindo.

Speaking through an audio clip circulating on various social media platforms, Kalindo said every government is judged by its economy, providing a conducive environment to the vendors to drive the economy of the country.

Kalindo has cautioned the Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) to tread carefully on the enforcement of its laws that vendors importing goods to Malawi apart from paying duty, should also be buying stickers to put on each item.

He said while the system is a welcome development for the MRA to curb illegal trade dealings, he has faulted the system wrong claiming that many vendors will still be using unchartered routes to run away from paying for stickers.

The activist has pleaded with the MRA to allow vendors who have come with their goods to their offices not to pay for stickers arguing that paying for stickers, duty and Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) will leave them with nothing in their pockets.

He has asked vendors to mobilize themselves to go to MRA offices to protest against the buying of stickers reminding them that Kenyan vendors have demonstrated to their government that they don’t want to be paying for dubious taxes for service deliveries.

“The Kenyans are demonstrating in the streets against a finance bill which has not been signed into law, Malawi vendors can adopt the same to save their businesses from collapsing,” said Kalindo.

He has also advised the opposition parties and the Malawi Law Commission to wake up to reject the MCP proposal that no Identity Card no vote for candidates in the 2025 elections reminding them that voting is a right that is enshrined in the Republican Constitution.

Kalindo has warned the opposition and Malawi Law Commission that if they don’t want to take the issue of IDs seriously, Malawians through Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) will go to court to challenge the decision claiming that this will infringe the rights of Malawians to vote.
