FAM condemns violence and hooliganisms in Airtel Top 8 opener
Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has condemned the act of violence and hooliganism which occurred during the launch of Airtel Top 8 competition between Silver Strikers and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.
FAM has condemned the malpractice which started due to the anger of suspected Nomads supporters in disagreement with referee Godfrey Nkhakananga’s decision to award Silver Strikers a goal while he already whistled for a foul prior to the goal scored by Stain Davie.
In the letter, the football mother body is reminding football loving Malawians that its association is still investigating the matter so that they can find the culprits to the malpractice and be dealt with accordingly.

Furthermore, FAM has called on Malawians to refrain from all sorts of violence and hooliganism in stadiums as this ruins the beautiful game of football and also can affect the image of the sponsors.
This comes barery just after the ministry of sports also condemned the act of violence and hooliganism at the stadium as it might affect the Malawi national team because if the stadium is not in good condition they might play outside Malawi.
According to Bingu National Stadium Manager Ambilike Mwaungulu 70 chairs have been damaged and it will cost around K10 million to fix them.
