Super League Preview: Bullets, Civil at home as Tigers enter Lions’ den
There will be three Super League games this afternoon as FCB Nyasa Big Bullets are welcoming Dedza Dynamos at Kamuzu Stadium with Civil taking on Moyale while Mighty Tigers are in Karonga to face Chitipa United.
Injury boosts for Bullets as four return to the squad
FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have received injury boosts as Clyde Senaji, Stanley Billiati and Nixon Nyasulu have returned to the squad ahead of the grudge match against Dedza Dynamos Salima Sugar Football Club.
Dedza are returning to Kamuzu Stadium a few weeks after holding Mighty Mukuru Wanderers to a 1-all stalemate.
Bullets second assistant Coach, Heston Munthali confirmed with the Club’s Media that the trio is now available for selection as they will be looking to open a three-point gap over Silver Strikers who have been exempted from league fixtures.
Maxwell Phodo who missed the previous games due to viral infection is also back in the team and could be in the matchday squad against the Central Region based side.
Meanwhile, Ernest Petro will miss the game due to an injury that he sustained in a barren draw against Mighty Mukuru Wanderers while Mike Mkwate remains sidelined after sustaining a tibiofibular fracture against Silver Strikers.
Bullets to prove title credentials
With Silver Strikers, Mighty Mukuru Wanderers all waiting for their players from South Africa, Bullets will be eager to collect points and prove that they can defend the league this season despite having some set-backs.
Their away form has been drastically bad, beating only Rookies, Bangwe All Stars and Extreme FC. They lost Chitipa United, drawing against Silver, Civil, Mighty Mukuru Wanderers and Kamuzu Barracks but they have been hot when playing at home.
They remain one of the two teams with a 100% winning record at home, scoring for fun.
Bullets are coming from a 3-0 win over Blue Eagles and they are leading the table with 25 points, level with Silver Strikers but they have superior goal difference.
“The aim is to collect three points for us to prove our title ambitions. We have to continue winning but it will be a tricky fixture for us as our opponents [Dedza] haven’t won in their last three games,” said Munthali.
Tigers in Lions’ den
Mighty Tigers who are struggling for consistency are in Karonga to face the resilient Chitipa United in another title game.
Two teams with two different ambitions as the hosts will be looking to collect points and cement their top place while Tigers will be eager to heighten their gulf from the relegation line.
Chitipa are third with 20 points while Tigers are 13th with 12 points.
Chitipa are coming from a beating Kamuzu Barracks and they have just lost one game in their last six outings. They stunned Wanderers, Bullets, held Silver, beating Bangwe All Stars.
“Am happy with the way how these boys are responding and listening to our instructions,” said Macdonald Nginde Mtetemera after beating KB.
On the other hand, Tigers have lost their previous two games in all competitions including a shock 3-1 defeat to Santhe Admarc in the FDH Bank Cup.
Since beating Moyale Barracks, Tigers have lost to KB, and Red Lions.
“We are playing well but we are failing to make use of the chances that we are creating,” said Nyambose Christopher after losing to Red Lions.
Yet another chance for Civil to force the way into top 8
With Both Kamuzu Barracks and Blue Eagles playing their games in a later date, Civil Service United have been presented with an opportunity to move into the top half of the table should they get points over Moyale Barracks.
Civil Service United failed to use the home advantage last week when they played to a goalless stalemate against Ekwendeni Hammers.
Moyale who are 6th have just won one game from their last three outings and they are coming from a 1-0 defeat to Bangwe All Stars.
The Lions of Kaning’ina have won two of theirast 10 meetings against Civil but the remaining 8 games produced no winners.
Since 2008 there are 31 meetings between the two teams and Moyale have 13 wins while Civil have won 7 games with 11 games ending in stalemate.
