TAM joins global Taekwondo family in mourning Grand Master Dai Won Moon
The Taekwondo Association of Malawi has joined the international Taekwondo community in mourning the passing of Grand Master Dai Won Moon, who died on May 15, 2026.
TAM President Major Louis Msukwa described Grand Master Moon as a towering figure in the history of Taekwondo whose dedication and vision helped spread the sport across the world.
“It is with profound sadness that the Taekwondo Association of Malawi joins the global Taekwondo family in mourning the passing of Grand Master Dai Won Moon,” said Msukwa.

Widely known as the “Father of Mexican Taekwondo,” Grand Master Moon introduced Taekwondo to Mexico in 1969 and played a major role in turning the country into one of the world’s leading Taekwondo nations.
Msukwa said Grand Master Moon’s legacy of excellence, perseverance, and service to humanity will continue inspiring athletes, coaches, and masters across the world, including Malawi.
He also extended condolences to the bereaved family, friends, students, and the entire international Taekwondo community, praying for his soul to rest in eternal peace.
