Parachute Battalion’s Baloyi Excels in Taekwondo at MDF Sports Festival
Corporal Abraham Baloyi from Parachute Battalion has earned recognition as one of the outstanding taekwondo athletes at the conclusion of the Malawi Defence Force Sports Festival after producing an impressive performance in the men’s category.
Baloyi was among athletes who walked away with medals and prize money after excelling in one of the festival’s most competitive disciplines. His achievement highlighted the growing standard of taekwondo within the Malawi Defence Force, where participants displayed a high level of fitness, discipline and tactical ability throughout the competition.

The annual MDF Sports Festival brought together soldiers from different military formations across the country to compete in various sporting activities aimed at promoting unity, teamwork and physical fitness among service personnel.
During the taekwondo contests, spectators witnessed thrilling bouts as competitors battled for supremacy in different weight categories. Baloyi stood out with his determination, composure and fighting spirit, qualities that helped him secure a place among the top performers.
The recognition of taekwondo winners through medals and cash prizes was seen as a motivation to athletes within the defence force to continue pursuing excellence in sport while maintaining the values of discipline and professionalism associated with military service.

The festival ended on a high note, with different teams and individual athletes being honoured for their performances in a week-long showcase of sporting talent within the Malawi Defence Force.
