Chitipa United to unveil new kit sponsorship

The Northern Region Super League rookies, Chitipa United have secured a kit sponsorship deal with company set to be announced on the unveiling ceremony scheduled for 13th April this year.

According to the press release that this publication has in possession released by the Club, dated 4 April, 2023 signed by the Club’s General Secretary, Duma Ngoma, the unveiling ceremony will be held at Fwasa Village Club in Chitipa at 6:30 pm, and will be attended by the club’s management, players, fans, kit sponsor and members of the press .

Chitipa United have described their new partners as a well-established company with a strong presence in Malawi and they share the same values.

“The club has been searching for a new kit sponsor for some time now, and we are thrilled to have found a partner who shares our values and vision for the
future. Our new kit sponsor is a well-established company with a strong presence in Malawi, and we believe that this partnership will be beneficial for both parties,” reads the press release in part.

Chitipa said the ceremony will be momentous occasion for the Club as they set to return to the league after two years.

In December 2021, TNM plc withdrew kit sponsorship for TNM Super League clubs and redirected funds for the uniforms towards team prizes.

The then- Super League of Malawi (Sulom) president Tiya Somba Banda the development means that clubs are at liberty to land their own kit sponsorship, an arrangement which in professional leagues is one of the main revenue streams for clubs.

Haiya said, “Football sponsorship is categorised in many segments and the key ones are the naming rights of the league and kit sponsorship. In the current contract, TNM had both by virtue of procuring kits for the teams.

“But now, TNM has relinquished the kit sponsorship and redirected the funds to prize money. The teams now have an opportunity to land their own kit sponsorship. This is in line with our professionalism and football commercialisation agenda.”

Currently, few Clubs have managed to secure the kit sponsorship with FCB Nyasa Bullets being sponsored by Admiral TeamWear, Moyale Barracks under MedHealth among others.
