Youths from Mzuzu City and Mzuzu Presbyteries have been encouraged to live purpose-driven lives by aligning their ambitions with God’s calling.

The call was made during a Joint Day of Prayer and Fasting held at Zolozolo CCAP Church in Mzuzu under the theme “Understanding Your Calling.” The event brought together young people from the two presbyteries for worship, prayer and biblical teachings.

Speaking during the closing session, Mzuzu City CYF Presbytery Youth Advisor, Rev. Gas Phiri, said every individual is created with a unique purpose and should strive to fulfil God’s assignment for their lives.

“No one was born by mistake. Every one of you was born with a purpose. Some of you are graduates, but what you are doing does not align with God’s purpose for your lives,” said Phiri.

He also urged the youths to embrace the biblical principle of seed sowing, describing it as an act of faith that can bring transformation.

“Hard work alone cannot change your life. The Bible contains many examples of people whose lives changed after they gave to God. Sometimes our situations remain stagnant because we fail to give God what He deserves,” he added.

One of the participants, Wezzie Munthali of Holy Trinity Congregation, said the teachings had changed her understanding of faith and success.

“As young people, we often believe that hard work alone is enough without involving God. This teaching has helped me understand the importance of putting God first and sowing seeds in faith,” she said.

Evangelist Oliver Samute also challenged the youths to discover God’s purpose for their lives, explaining that understanding one’s calling begins with knowing God’s divine plan. He taught on the Five Cs of Calling, Called, Chosen, Consecrated, Certified and Commissioned which he described as the biblical foundation for fulfilling God’s assignment.

Meanwhile, Mzuzu City CYF Presbytery Chairperson Mike Sakala assured participants that similar programmes would continue to equip young people with biblical principles for leadership and service.

“These teachings will continue because we are committed to raising a generation that will positively transform our country,” said Sakala.

The day-long prayer and fasting gathering concluded with a renewed call for young people to seek God’s direction, remain faithful to their calling and become agents of positive change in their communities.
