FAM Engages Key Government Leaders to Strengthen Football Development
Football Association of Malawi (FAM) President Fleetwood Haiya has expressed optimism following a high-level engagement aimed at advancing the growth and transformation of football in the country.
In a statement, Haiya revealed that the meeting brought together the Minister of Transport and Public Works, Honourable Jappie Mhango, the Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, Honourable Patricia Wiskies, FAM Second Vice President Dr. Lameck Zetu Nkhonje, and Malawi’s Chargé d’Affaires to the Kingdom of Morocco, Mr. Kennedy Lweya.
According to Haiya, the discussions centred on strengthening collaboration between government and football authorities as part of broader efforts to develop and professionalise the game in Malawi. He described the engagement as productive, underscoring a shared commitment to work together in addressing key challenges and unlocking new opportunities for football development.
Haiya reaffirmed FAM’s determination to drive progress, noting that the association remains focused on long-term transformation of the sport. He emphasised that all stakeholders are aligned in ensuring that no opportunity is missed in the quest to elevate Malawian football to higher standards.
The meeting signals renewed momentum and collective resolve to create a stronger, more competitive football landscape in Malawi through sustained partnership and coordinated action.
