Police Boost Prosecutors’ Skills to Strengthen Case Management

The Northern Region Police Headquarters has conducted a training workshop for prosecutors aimed at improving case management and reducing acquittals in courts.
The workshop, held on April 10, 2026, focused on equipping prosecutors with essential skills to handle cases more effectively and enhance the delivery of justice.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Isaac Norman said the initiative is designed to strengthen the justice system by improving how cases are prepared and presented in court.
He noted that poor drafting of charges is one of the major factors contributing to acquittals and case dismissals, emphasizing the importance of properly understanding and applying the law.
Regional Prosecutions Officer, Superintendent Bettie Gondwe Msowoya, said the training was organized after identifying a gap between prosecutors and court expectations.

She explained that many officers involved in prosecutions lack formal training, while others struggle to keep up with evolving laws due to limited resources.
The training is expected to enhance coordination between prosecutors and the courts, ultimately improving efficiency and justice delivery.
