The 2023 TotalEnergies African Cup Of Nations qualifying game played on Tuesday at Bingu National Stadium grossed a record-breaking revenue as the Football Association of Malawi announces a gross revenue of K76.4 Million.

The revenue has slightly transcended the amount of money that the Flames, Ethiopia game raked in on June 4 last year.

The Association on Thursday reported that net revenue of K59.2 Million was realized as total direct expenses amounted to MK17.1 million.

According to the report by the Association, K9.6 Million was used in ticketing and sales commission, K5.7 in security services, and K1.9 Million in First Aid, Fire, P/A system, and other service providers.

From the realized net revenue of K59.2 Million, ground Levy pocketed 25% which is translated to K14.8 Million, Sports Council got its 5% cut which is K2.9 Million while the Football Association of Malawi got its 70% cut which is K41.4 Million.

“It is pleasing to note that the MWK76.4 million realized is the highest in the history of football in Malawi. MK65.4 million, representing 86% was realized from advance ticket sales while MK11.0 million was realized on matchday. This is a positive indication that our commercialization efforts of enhancing e–ticketing are bearing fruits,” reads the report in part.

Meanwhile, FAM has thanked Malawi Police Services and other private security service providers for professionally managing the situation which made sure that no life or property was lost or damaged despite the ugly scenes.
