Chakwera directs full military honours on JZU burial
President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera has directed Rt. Hon. John Zenas Ungapake Tembo to be accorded burial with full military honours as a former cabinet Minister and in recognition of the enormous contribution he made to the nation.
JZU died on Wednesday 27th September, 2023 and will be laid to rest at his home village Kaphala in the area of Senior Chief Kaphuka in Dedza district on Wednesday 4th October, 2023.
Muvi wa Chilungamo has condoled the nation of Malawi, Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and the Tembo family on the demise of their son who was also regarded as a source of wisdom and inspiration to the MCP.
Speaking through his face book page to millions of Africans on the continent, President of Muvi wa Chilungamo Revolutionary Party (MRP) Bantu Saunders Jumah, has observed that as of today, many Malawians don’t know who are the heroes of their country.
Jumah said if JZU was from another political party not MCP, President Chakwera could not direct his burial to be accorded with full military honours claiming that he has done that because he is MCP and JZU was MCP too.
He said there are mixed feelings which are being expressed on JZU claiming that Malawi needs healing and unity of purpose saying the country is in mourning a hero or not but some are thinking to the back history of four cabinet ministers who died in a mysterious death in Thambani- Mwanza Aaron Gadama, Dick Matenje, David Chiwanga and Twaibu Sangala.
The MRP President said a country that has no truth will never see justice, Malawi needs to expose the truth on whether JZU is a hero or not claiming that the sons and daughters of the murdered cabinet Ministers in Thambani-Mwanza cannot go to attend JZU’s funeral.
He said Malawi has failed to graduate to mindset change because of keeping secrets noting with a great concern that if Malawi cannot learn to reveal its secrets, it should forget about development observing that Malawi has failed to develop because its leaders are seating on secrets.
Jumah has challenged Malawians that if the citizens choose Muvi wa Chilungamo in 2025, it will establish national shrines in the three regions and heroes Acre for those that have made an impact to their country and not only politicians.
“On these places, Malawians will be putting their flowers and those who offended these people should ask for forgiveness, Masauko Chipembere, Augustine Harry Bwanausi, Yatuta Chisiza, and others, there remains will come back home for a full military honours,” he said.
