Banda Champions Stronger Voice for Public Media in MISA Malawi

Journalist , who is contesting for the chairperson position of MISA Malawi has pledged to elevate the recognition and participation of public media institutions within the organisation’s advocacy framework.

Speaking during his campaign engagement at (MBC) in , Banda received strong support as he highlighted the untapped potential of public media professionals in shaping the country’s media landscape.

Banda emphasized the need for inclusive representation, calling for greater involvement of public media practitioners in key decision-making platforms within MISA Malawi, including governance structures and awards adjudication panels.

He further outlined his vision to safeguard professionalism in public media by strengthening collaboration with institutions such as the , the , and the .

Banda also underscored the wealth of experience within public media, proposing structured mentorship and training initiatives where seasoned journalists can help nurture the next generation.

“We have very experienced journalists here, and their expertise must be fully utilised to build a stronger and more vibrant media industry,” he said.
