New record set as the scorchers demolish Seychelles
The Malawi womens football team this afternoon broke a record by slotting in 17 goals to nil against Seychelles womens team at Mpira stadium in an international friendly match beating their previous record when they defeated Mozambique 11-1 in 2019 at Kamuzu stadium in 2020 Olympics qualifiers.
Ireen Khumalo opened the scores at 8 minutes with a beautiful set piece to give the scorchers a lead before Rose Kamzere doubled the lead to make it 2 nil.
On 18 minutes Sabina Thom with a simple tap in netted the third goal and in no time Thom got her brace when she dribbled past Seychelles goalie to make it 4-0.
While enjoying possession the scorchers kept tormenting their opponents no wonder Vanessa Chikupira netted the fifth goal before finding her brace to make it 6-0.

As everybody thought the scores will be like that as teams goes for a break Sarah Mlimbika had other plans as she netted goal number 7 before Chikupira completed her hat-trick to put the game at 8-0 before the referee called for a half time break.
In the second half Coach Lovemore Fazili made 8 changes as he is trying to give each and every player a chance to showcase themselves before they leave for Cosafa Cup.
It was raining goals again in the second half with substitute Carol Matchola, Leticia Chinyamula, Chikondi Gondwe and Temwa Chawinga scoring goals for fun bringing the results to 17-0 at regulation time to set a new record in the history of Malawi womens football.
Speaking after the match Coach for the scorchers Lovemore Faziri said he was happy with the perfomance of her girls.
“As you know we are trying to build a new team as we have old players and young players from under 17 and 20 so yeah am impressed with the perfomance and not really the margin”. Said Faziri
Furthermore Faziri said that they have seen some few things which needs some improvement like offsides traps, specialization and also emphadised not to relax on goal keeping because in today’s match they were on holiday so they dont have to sleep on that.
Her counterpart Florence Marie said that she is very happy with performance as they are building the team for the next three to four to come.

” Am very proud of my girls very proud of the perfomance as you can see most of these girls are still young like the goalkeeper is just 15 years old so we are trying to build a new team which will be able to start competing in the next three to four years to come”.Concluded Marie
The two teams will meet again on Thursday for their final testing match before they leave for COSAFA cup which is slated for Gauteng,South Africa from 4 october to 15 october.
