ADL donates to Lumbadzi Police station

Aiport Development Limited (ADL), a statutory corporation at Kamuzu International Airport has donated security materials worth over K800,000.00 to Lumbadzi Police Station to help boost security in the area.

The donation includes 20 reflector jackets, torches, vests and whistles.

Speaking during the handover ceremony on Tuesday, Airport Development Limited security officer Wakisa Mwalilino said the organisation has an obligation to help boost security in the area and country as a whole.

He said: “This is also in appreciation to the role the station plays in providing security not only around the airport perimeter fence but also in all the transmitters in the area.”

He further said the airport has very sensitive equipments outside the airport premises and community policing members plays a pivotal role in providing the necessary security to such areas.

Lumbadzi Police Station Officer In charge, Senior Assistant Commissioner Meckline Medi said the donation will help her officers and community policing forums operate effectively.

She thanked Airport Development Limited management for the donation which she said will help in strengthening security in their catchment area.

“The security materials will also act as a motivation to different community policing structures which will in turn help improve the delivery of security services in the area and serve the communities better,” she said.

She then asked other stakeholders to emulate the example set by Airport Development Limited to help fight crime in the area.

Lumbadzi Police station has four community policing forums and 340 crime prevention committees.
