NRFA cheers Karonga accident victims

Northern Region Football Association(NRFA) committee led by the General Secretary Masiya Nyasulu this morning visited victims of an accident which occurred at Tenenthe area involving Nyungwe Football Club.

According to Police report as of this morning 17 were confirmed dead, 12 with serious injuries And the rest with minor injuries And being treated at Karonga District Hospital.

Speaking to the media, General Secretary for NRFA described the incident as a huge loss to the association and the whole nation.

“As an association we are very devastated with this accident involving our friends Nyungwe Football Club who were coming from Chitipa for a match in Fam Moto division one against Chitipa Hammers” Said Nyasulu

Furthermore Nyasulu said that they have thought it wise to postpone all games under their belt so that they can pay their last respect to the bereaved families.

NRFA has since appealed to all stakeholders and the general public to support the bereaved families and those sustained injuries to contribute inform of cash or any kind so that they can condole and cheer them. In related development Malawi Council of Sports has rendered its condolences and has since called on all sporting disciplines to observe a minute of silence in all of its activities from today up to next weekend.

Paramount Chief Kyungu, Super League of Malawi, Central Region Football Association, Super league teams have also poured in their condolences and wished quick recovery to those with injuries.
