Nyika Media Club mourns journalist Chimango Chipeta
Nyika Media Club, a media body representing journalists in Malawi’s Northern Region, has mourned the death of its long-serving member, journalist Chimango Chipeta, who was laid to rest on Thursday at Chafisi Village in Embangweni, Mzimba District.
Chipeta died on Tuesday, 27 October 2026, after a short illness, leaving colleagues in the media fraternity mourning the loss of a fellow journalist.

Nyika Media Club General Secretary Elton Mhango said Chipeta’s death was a significant loss to the media fraternity in the Northern Region.
Mhango said the club had lost a dedicated member whose contribution to journalism would be remembered by colleagues who worked alongside him.
He added that Chipeta’s passing had left a void within the organisation, where he had been a long-serving member.
Chipeta also worked with the Malawi Institute of Journalism (MIJ) as Bureau Supervisor for MIJ FM Mzuzu, contributing to broadcasting and journalism in the region.

Members of Nyika Media Club, representatives of the Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Malawi Chapter, MIJ colleagues and other media personnel gathered at his burial to pay their last respects.
His death is a loss to the Northern Region’s media community, where his service and professional contribution will be remembered.
