Chihana relaunches Aford as he eyes 2025 Presidential elections

The President for Alliance For Democracy (AFORD), one of the opposition parties in Malawi has declared the re-starting of the party.
Speaking during the First Mega rally conducted in Lilongwe area 56 Mtandile. Chilima ground, Chihana said he has relaunched the party meaning to say there have started new life.
In his speach , The Party’s president said that for the country of Malawi to do better the system of the government must Change.
“We need to change the system of government which is currently available, we need to have Federal system of government where by people must not relying on the president only for help but from the regional aswell. Each region in Malawi must have the governor who will be responsible in all the activities not the president ” said the AFORD Leader
He continued to say that the parliamentary system must change too saying that the problem now is that any budget rose in the parliament does not change even if the members of parliment raise the needs of their constituencies.
“We need to have a good parliament protocol where we can change the budget immediately if something new has come. The problem with our parliment is that they don’t change the budget while other members of parliment have asked for road and others and their problems are not included in,” Said Chakufwa Chihana.
Saulosi Thindwa the Public relations officer for Afford said that they have conducted the rally to honor the founder of the party Thom Chakufwa Chihana who fought for democracy and multiparty system of government in Malawi, and decribed that it was the long journey for the party to reach where they are because they faced more oppression and threats from other parties .
The rally which had thousands of attendance shows that the party has been welcomed by the people.
On the day Phungu Joseph Mkasa a well known artist was there singing praising songs to Enock Kamzingeni Chakufwa Chihana, the leader of Afford.
Don Taz the hip-hop artist and Machuruka were among the artists who were present.
Alliance For Democracy “AFORD” started from 1992 by Thom Chakufwa Chihana which the party has now finished 30 years since being formed but never ruled the country.
