DRIVER ARRESTED OVER UNLICENSED CHARCOAL

Police in Neno have apprehended Kelly Gondwe at Zalewa roadblock for being in possession of 100 bags of charcoal without proper documents.

According to Neno Police spokesperson Austin Kamwendo, Gondwe, a driver for a South African company called MKA Trucking was transporting bags of charcoal in his truck and the bags were mixed with other goods from South Africa and was going to Nchalo.

Speaking to Kamwendo, he said that the suspect will appear before court to answer charges of transporting forest produce without proper documents which is contrary to section 68 of the forest Act.

Kelly Gondwe is 42 years old and hails from Chitimba Village in the area of Traditional Authority Mwamulowe in Karonga District.
