Police Commissioner eyes quality and improved livelihood for people in the North
Police Commissioner for Northern Region Noel Kaira says his vision is to see people in the region living quality and improved livelihoods without fear of crime.
Kaira who has just been posted from Central East Region made the revelation during a meeting he held with heads of branches at the Senior Officer’s Mess on March 28, 2023.
He emphasized that during his stay at the Northern Region Police Headquarters, he will ensure that Police officers work towards enhancing public safety and security as stipulated in the Malawi Police Service (MPS) Strategic Development Plan.
“Let us ensure quality service for improved livelihood of the people in this region”, he stressed.
“Quality life means people are able to conduct their daily businesses without being scared of becoming the next victim of crime”, emphasized the Regional Commissioner.
In his message titled ‘Unity of purpose’, Kaira appealed for Officers to work together for the common good of the people. He added, “We are one but we have different roles to play, let’s foster the spirit of oneness”.
On crime he said there should be modalities to avert illegal migration and other serious offences.
He singled out night Police patrols to be enhanced to stop criminal activities across the region.

On corruption, he urged all Police officers to desist from engaging in corruption which he said is evil.
On his part, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for Northern Region Glinton Mitayi said the meeting was an eye opener as it provided the platform for the new commissioner to outline his vision for the region.
Attendants to the meeting included all Regional heads of branches, Officers In-Charge Mzuzu Police, Delta Division, Police Units under Mzuzu and Operations Officers.
