Cyclone Freddy sweeps entire village in Chiradzulu
Cyclone Freddy has caused heavy floods and destroyed all houses in the Mtauchira area in Chiradzulu district, leading to the loss of seven lives and injuring 40 people.
Relief and Rehabilitation officer Charity Machika stated that the search for missing individuals continues as they are uncertain about the number of people inhabiting the affected land.
A landslide from Chambe mountain triggered the disaster, which has also resulted in the blocking of access to the Boma and the district hospital.
District Commissioner Francis Matewere announced that the total number of fatalities in the district has risen to ten, with 44 people injured.
Two camps have been established at Nguludi Girls Primary and Montfort Primary schools for the affected individuals.
