By Dean Chisambo…….
Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Decentralization, Mwanamvekha, has hailed Members of Parliament for their dedication, commitment, and hard work over the past two weeks as they scrutinised the 2026–2027 National Budget estimates for various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) through cluster committees.
Mwanamvekha made the remarks on Tuesday at the Parliament Building in Lilongwe.
During the deliberations, he urged the House to proceed with approving the budget allocations for different MDAs despite a temporary blackout that affected proceedings in the August House.
He further requested legislators to adopt various vote numbers in line with the proposed budget allocations for the MDAs.
Some of the MDAs whose budget estimates have been approved by the Committee of Supply include the National Food Reserve Agency (NFRA), Ministry of Youth and Sports, Malawi Defence Force (MDF), Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC), Ministry of Lands, Ministry of Local Government, Office of the Vice President, Local Government Finance Committee, Ministry of Agriculture, and Central Medical Stores Trust (CMST), among others.
Meanwhile, First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Madalitso Kazombo Musowa, who chairs the Committee of Supply, commended Members of Parliament for their full participation during the budget deliberations.
