The Vice President of the Republic of Malawi, Dr. Michael Usi, who is also the president of the Odya Zake Alibe Mulandu (OZAM), has called on Malawians to carefully reflect on the past five years under President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera’s administration. Speaking ahead of the September 16, 2025 general elections, Dr. Usi emphasized the importance of electing development-oriented leaders.

Dr. Usi made these remarks on Monday during a political rally held in Blantyre.

He highlighted that Malawians continue to endure significant social and economic hardships, citing high levels of poverty, poor service delivery, and a lack of decisive leadership.

“I was the last person to receive presidential nomination papers because I wanted to see if there were truly leaders who prioritize the interests of poor Malawians by forming electoral alliances. What I have observed is excessive greed among political leaders in the country,” Dr. Usi stated.

In response to these challenges, Dr. Michael Usi pledged to work tirelessly to lift Malawians out of the current social and economic difficulties they face.
