Mzuzu City SESTU Sets Up Strategic Plan to Increase Membership
Mzuzu City Secondary School Teachers Union (Mzuzu SESTU) has established a Strategic Plan to increase its membership in the city, aiming to serve teachers’ interests.
Speaking after their inaugural meeting at Northern Education Division Offices in Mzuzu, Committee Secretary Sellah Chavula stated that the committee has set several resolutions, including setting affiliation fees and holding committee meetings every first Friday of the month, subject to confirmation from the National Committee.
“The committee will ensure the set targets are achieved, and we have various activities lined up to secure financial resources, such as membership fees and fundraising initiatives,” Chavula said.
James Chisunkha, Committee Publicist, appealed to partners to support the committee in achieving its objectives.
“As secondary teachers, we face numerous challenges. We are implementing measures to address these issues and urge partners to assist wherever possible to enhance teachers’ welfare,” Chisunkha said.
This development comes after the Secondary School Teachers Union expressed disappointment to the Ministry of Education regarding the ministry’s failure to address their welfare concerns.
