Minister hails Tanzanian government for humanitarian support to cyclone Freddy victims.

The minister of Foreign Affairs Nancy Tembo has hailed the Tanzanian government for supporting Malawi with humanitarian assistance to cyclone Freddy victims in the country.
“We thank the government of Tanzania for the support they sent to us during this hard time Malawi has. As we have witnessed the arrival of 94 soldiers which will help in rehabilitation works to al districts affected by cyclone Freddy .”

As the country continues to suffer from the Cyclone Freddy aftermath, the Tanzanian government has sent a team of 94 soldiers to malawian government, of which 59 are combat engineers who will be assisting in rehabilitation of some damaged infrastructures by cyclone Freddy.

On his part, High Commissioner of Tanzania to Malawi Humphrey Polepole says the Tanzanian Government has also brought in 195 tonnes of maize flour, 3 family size tents, 6000 blankets and other medical supplies.

He however say this is the first batch of humanitarian support that the Tanzanian government has sent to Malawi and it cost about K1 billion and a total of K300 million has already been presented to malawian Government.

Most infrastructures and properties were damaged in the southern region by cyclone Freddy which hit hard in some districts.
