Teacher in custody for indecent assault

Police in Mzuzu are keeping in custody a primary school teacher for indecently assaulting a standard 8 pupil.

The suspect has been identified as Abraham Moyo aged 38.

It is reported that on November 07, 2023 around 18:00 hours the victim went for her studies at Madise Primary School as she is preparing for her standard 8 exams.

Upon reaching the school premises, she was welcomed by her class teacher Mr Moyo (suspect) who asked her to follow him to the males toilet.

The victim naively followed the teacher in the toilet where it is alleged that the suspect started kissing and touching the victim’s private parts which pissed her off and managed to run away with torn clothes as the suspect tried to catch her back.

The victim narrated the incident to her mother who reported the issue to police.

The victim was therefore reffered to the hospital for medical checkup and treatment and the police went for scene visit and arrested the suspect in the process.

The suspect is now in police custody pending trial.

Moyo hails from Chinthinda Moyo village Traditional Authority Mtwalo in Mzimba.
