Rumphi Farms Show Strong Growth After Jane Ansah Foundation Support
Maize and tomato production is gaining momentum in Rumphi following agricultural support from the Dr Jane Ansah Foundation, with crops now developing under an operational irrigation system.
The foundation’s Director of Operations, Lewis Kamundi, says farmers are actively working on the project, with the irrigation system providing water to support crop production.
Kamundi said the foundation’s founder, Dr Jane Ansah, has consistently emphasised the importance of giving people the means to sustain themselves rather than simply providing temporary assistance.
He said this philosophy is reflected in the foundation’s support for cooperatives, which are designed to empower citizens to build sustainable livelihoods and stand on their own feet.
“What we are seeing in Rumphi is a practical example of that approach, where people are being supported to build their own productive capacity,” Kamundi said.
He added that Dr Ansah recently conveyed a similar message in Nkhotakota, where she encouraged people to embrace cooperatives and use opportunities created through empowerment initiatives to improve their livelihoods.
