Court Rules MACRA Wrongly Dismissed Former Boss Daud Suleman

The Industrial Relations Court has ruled that the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) unlawfully dismissed its former Director General, Daud Suleman.

According to local media reports, the court found that MACRA was required to give Suleman an opportunity to be heard before terminating his employment but failed to follow the required procedure.

Suleman has confirmed the court’s decision.

The ruling centres on the process MACRA followed in removing the former director general from his position, with the court finding that he was not given an opportunity to present his side before his dismissal.

The decision adds a new chapter to Suleman’s departure from MACRA, where he previously served as Director General.
