Propack Boosts Malawi–Zambia Legends Match, Backs Welfare of Former Football Stars
Propack Packaging has stepped forward to strengthen efforts aimed at improving the welfare of former football stars by injecting K5 million into the Football Legends Association’s (FLA) flagship international match between Malawi and Zambia.
The highly anticipated legends encounter is scheduled for Sunday, 28 December, at Bingu National Stadium and is expected to draw fans from across the country.
Presenting a symbolic cheque in Blantyre, Propack Human Resources Manager MacMillan Mbwana said the company’s support goes beyond football, noting that legendary players laid the foundation of the game at a time when it offered little financial reward.

“Our legends served the nation with pride and passion when football was not lucrative. As a Malawian company, we felt it was important to stand with them,” said Mbwana.
FLA trustee Mary Woodworth welcomed the gesture, describing it as a major boost to the association’s welfare programmes for former players.

She explained that the Malawi–Zambia legends match is both an entertainment spectacle and a fundraising initiative designed to generate resources for the well-being of retired footballers.
As part of the fundraising drive, Woodworth revealed that FLA has also organised a motorbike challenge in which 13 cyclists will ride for three days from Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre to Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe to raise additional funds.

Meanwhile, tickets for the legends showdown are already available at selected outlets in Lilongwe and through online platforms.
