People First Foundation has officially launched its Socials Football Tournament in Mzuzu, bringing together various social football clubs based in the city.

The launch event featured an exciting opening match where Mzuzu Police Headquarters triumphed over Immigration Socials Football Club with an emphatic 3–0 win at Katoto primary school ground

The tournament is part of the Foundation’s broader efforts to raise awareness about its ongoing programs in Mzuzu, while also mobilizing resources to support its operations.

Guest of honor at the launch, Independent Shadow Member of Parliament for Mzuzu City Constituency, Mr. William Kaweche, commended the Foundation’s commitment to community development and donated K500,000 towards its initiatives.

“This is more than just football—it’s about empowering communities and supporting grassroots solutions to real challenges,” said Mr. Kaweche. “I believe in what People First Foundation is doing, and I’m proud to stand with them.”

Speaking at the same event, People First Foundation Executive Director Mr. Lumbani Kaunda thanked all participating teams and supporters for embracing the tournament.

“This tournament is not just a game—it is a platform to engage, educate, and unite the people of Mzuzu around the issues we care deeply about: human rights, inclusive education, and community support,” said Kaunda.

The tournament will continue over the coming weeks, with more matches lined up involving various social clubs from across the city.
