New Chitipa Police OC Urges Peace Ahead of Elections
The newly appointed Officer-in-Charge for Chitipa Police, Assistant Commissioner Morgan Dzonzi, has urged residents and traditional leaders in Iponza Village to uphold peace as the country gears up for the September 16, 2025, general elections.
Speaking during his first community engagement meeting, Dzonzi emphasized the need for unity and cautioned the youth against engaging in violence or destructive demonstrations.
“We believe in community partnership. It was an honor to meet the people and chiefs here today so we can collaborate. As elections approach, I encouraged everyone to avoid violence and help build a better Chitipa,” he said.
Senior Group Village Headman Mkombanyama welcomed the visit, praising the OC’s anti-violence message.
“I’m very excited about this visit,” he said. “As someone who discourages violence in my community, I’m pleased with his call for peace.”
