Massive Security Calls for Closer Cooperation with Police

Massive Security Limited has called for closer cooperation with the Malawi Police Service (MPS), saying collaboration between private security providers and law enforcement is essential in addressing security challenges that require police expertise and legal authority.

Speaking during a press briefing at the company’s offices in Mzuzu on Wednesday, Operations Officer Vincent Mhango said the company works with the police on matters that fall outside the scope of private security operations.

“We make sure that the Malawi Police Service and our company work hand in hand because MPS has special skills which would also help us,” Mhango said.

He said the company also conducts fingerprint checks on its employees through the police as part of its recruitment and screening process.

Mhango said the measure is intended to reduce the risk of recruiting people with criminal backgrounds, particularly amid concerns over cases in which security personnel are implicated in theft at workplaces where they are deployed.

“We make sure that everyone who works with us has their fingerprints taken. Currently, there have been cases where workers themselves spearhead theft at their places of operation,” he said.

The company said it currently has about 400 security officers deployed in different parts of the country.

Meanwhile, one of its clients, Spencer Chalera of Chalera Investment, said effective security services depend not only on the presence of guards but also on professionalism, reliability and proper working conditions for employees.

Chalera said security officers who receive their wages on time are more likely to remain motivated and focused on their responsibilities.

Massive Security Limited was established in December 2025 and is headquartered in Mzuzu. The company says it works with relevant authorities in addressing security concerns and supporting efforts to protect people and property.
