Kamphangala warns Malawians of anarchy if Mutharika is arrested
Barely a day after political activist Bon Kalindo said the government was meeting activists and vendors to go to court to obtain an injunction to stop the much anticipated Malawi First demonstrations on 8th August 2024, five CSOs have filed a contempt of court to deregister the DPP and arrest senior leaders of the party.
The five CSOs Centre for Development of People (CEDEP), the Centre for Human Rights and Rehabilitation (CHRR), Youth and Society (YAS), the Human Rights Consultative Committee (HRCC), and the CCAP Livingstonia Synod have moved the court to arrest Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, Clement Mwale and Jappie Mhango.
The documents which were filed in the Zomba High Court on Thursday, indicate that in May 2023 High Court Judge Zione Ntaba ordered the DPP to refund K13.5 million within 30 days but the DPP has not complied with the order.
A Malawi Congress Party (MCP) diehard of Mvera in Dowa district Mr. Rodgers Kamphangala, has warned the MCP government under the leadership of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to tread the decision raised by five CSOs with care of what tomorrow will be.
Kamphangala said Malawians are all aware that the MCP is doing what it can to block Professor Mutharika from standing in the 2025 elections but failed and today, it is using CSO leaders who are puppets of it to deregister the DPP and arrest Professor Mutharika.
He has reminded the MCP of the time the ACB wanted to interrogate Professor Mutharika at his Page House in Mangochi, saying the whole road to Page House was blocked by DPP supporters in covering the boss and today, they want to test cover the boss.
The MCP diehard has assured the MCP government that as the writings are on the wall, Malawians have lost trust in President Chakwera as their leader and many are blaming themselves for taking their time to cast votes for the MCP government.
Kamphangala said the MCP is not sleeping with the presence of Professor Mutharika to appear on the ballot paper observing that its plans were for President Chakwera to go with no competitor and win the 2025 elections with a landslide victory.
“Find ways for which the DPP could comply with the court order of paying back K13.5 million and not going through CSO leaders funded by the MCP to move the court to deregister the DPP and arrest Professor Mutharika,” said Kamphangala.
He said since 1964 Malawians have enjoyed peace and order prevailing in the country and they will hold the MCP government under President Chakwera accountable for inciting violence and war by sponsoring CSOs to move the courts to arrest former President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.
