FDH Bank Suspends Football Sponsorship Over Governance Concerns

Sponsors of the country’s top-flight league, the , , have announced the immediate suspension of all sports-related sponsorships and activities, citing concerns over football governance in Malawi.

In a statement released on Sunday, April 26, 2026, the bank—also a partner of the —said recent developments within the local game have negatively affected its brand image and commercial interests.

FDH Bank expressed particular disappointment with the ongoing impasse between the and the , especially surrounding the official launch of the 2026 season at .

According to the bank, the situation has created uncertainty and undermined the value of its partnerships in football. As a result, it has decided to halt all sponsorship engagements while undertaking a comprehensive internal review.
