DMI Suspends Milk Production

Dairy famers downhearted in the country as one of the large milk production company in the country Malawi Dairy Industries (MDI) suspends it’s production.
The decision by DMI will greatly affect about 5000 dairy famers in the central region mainly districts of Lilongwe , Mchinji and Dowa who supply milk to the Industry.
MDI general manager Hope Dzombe states failure to make profits due to imitate power supply the country encounters and being unable to meet the production capacity among others are the reasons the Industry resolved on suspension.
Distressing on the matter National director for milk producers Association of Malawi , Hebert Chagona , reveals that 5000 famers will be loosing 18,000 liters of milk on a dairy basis due to the suspension.
” This throw us in a financial deep as 18,000 litres of milk that famers will be losing mean 8 million Malawian Kwacha loss on a dairy basis and they will not be able to make lively hood at house hold level.
MDI has its offices located in the capital Lilongwe and has operated in the country for more than 30 years
