Comedian Gogo Mlewa Died at 90

Most malawian were shocked after hearing that one of the comedian known by her stage name Gogo Mlewa has passed away.

Gogo Mlewa who born Leya Ketrina Aziyere died on Tuesday June 6, 2023 at Likuni Mission hospital.

According to her nephew Yona Kantwera says her grandmother died upon arrival at Likuni Mission hospital after a short illness.

“She called one of the children in our household at around 9 PM and after people went to her room they found that she is not in good condition and we took her to Likuni Mission hospital for medication and upon arrival at the hospital she was pronounced dead.

Yona Kantwera added that their journey of comedy started early in 2019.

“Our journey started in 2019 when Chelsea lost to Manchester City by 6:0 in English Premier league, it’s were we started to do comedy.”

Gogo Mlewa and her nephew were well known with one of their comedy “mbina simanga banja Koma khalidwe”.

Mlewa was one of the comedian who produced comedies who give advise to people on different themes regarding malawian culture.

Gogo Mlewa will be laid to rest on Thursday June 8 at her home village, Mlewa village Traditional Authority Chimutu in Lilongwe district.
