Timothy Mtambo, the Alliance for Democracy (AFORD) aspiring Member of Parliament for Chitipa Central Constituency, has declared that it’s time for the people of Chitipa to witness real development and stop being treated as a dumping ground.

Speaking on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, during his first political rally in the district, Mtambo—who also serves as AFORD Vice President—voiced his concerns about the treatment of civil servants in the region.

“For too long, Chitipa has been regarded as a dumping site for civil servants being punished by the government,” Mtambo said. “If elected, I will work to change this mindset and bring meaningful development to Chitipa.”

He expressed gratitude for the strong support he’s receiving from residents, including traditional leaders.

“I’m overwhelmed by the support, which clearly shows that people are ready for change,” he said. “I deliberately held this rally away from town to gauge the people’s love for me—and I’m impressed by the turnout.”

Mtambo’s campaign is centered on key pillars such as health, education, youth empowerment, business development, and infrastructure. He also stressed the importance of transparency and accountability in managing development funds.

“I will be a hands-on Member of Parliament, not just someone who sits in Parliament,” Mtambo assured the crowd. “I will ensure every penny is used for its intended purpose—corruption will no longer have a place in Chitipa. I’m the right person to bring that change.”
