Ekwaiweni Tafika Slender Masters to Boost Their Last 8 Qualification

A lone goal from Mphatso Kumwenda at 2 minutes was enough to propel Ekwaiweni Tafika Sports Academy to a slender win over Chibavi based Lube Masters in a NRFA Simso Mzuzu 12 sponsors league game played at Ekwaiweni Primary Ground on Saturday.

A sleep at the back game gave the home team early goal followed by misspend chances from both teams, despite playing good attacking football especially in the second half but Masters failed to get a result as they kept squandering chances, the home team held on to their lead despite being down to ten men after Kumwenda the scorer was sent off for unsporting behavior in the last 20 minutes.

Omega Mhone head coach for Ekwaiweni Tafika Sports Academy described the win as a qualification boost as they enter into the final two games of the cluster in one of the toughest cluster.

“We are delighted with the win which has boosted our qualifying chances we just need to put extra gear in our last two games so that we qualify for Top 8.” Mhone said in a post match interview.

Masters assistant coach Chinwemwe Madodi Banda described the top table crash as a tough game promising to utilize the last two games in order to qualify for the next stage.

“We had a blunder at the back we conceded and failed to get an equalizer but we have hope we will progress to the last 8 if we can get good results from two games.” a visibly composed Vinkhumbo said.

The win has propelled Ekwaiweni Tafika Sports Academy to the summit with 18 points while Masters who dropped to second position with 16 points both teams have out of contention Ekwendeni United and Mzuni FC to wrap up the cluster games.

Other teams with possible qualification chances are third placed Ekwendeni Hard knockers, fourth placed Chipolopolo Boys and Thaboland who have 15,14 and 13 points respectively both teams have two games left.
