Three nabbed for multiple crimes in Rumphi

Police in Rumphi are keeping in custody three men for committing malicious damage, assaults occasioning actual bodily harm and theft.

The trio are ;Isaac Luhanga 47, Noel Luhanga 28 and Rabe Luhanga 21 both from Chilundanya Village under Traditional Authority Chikulamayembe in Rumphi district

The trio committed these offences in January and February this year at Chilundanya area in the district.

Brief facts of the matter are; On January 3 2023 Harvey Msimuko went to unknown destination without permission from his parents and relatives.

Then, the relatives of Msimuko started accusing family of Aaron Msowoya and Soliam Msowoya for having a hand in the missing of Msimuko through magic.

Then on January 6 this year, Aaron Msowoya was assaulted by the three suspects and 11 others are still at large.

Later on February 10 2023, the family of Msimuko hired a witchdoctor but the mission was unaccomplished.

Immediately quarrels erupted and relatives of Msimuko demolished part of the house belonging to the Msowoya family and stole some properties.

Meanwhile, police have charged the suspects with malicious damage, theft and assaults occasioning actual bodily harm and are still looking for the 11 others who are still at large.

The incident forced the family of Msowoya to stay out of the area and they were kept at Rumphi Police Station for three weeks and later relocated back by the officials from the district council after the dialogue.

Then on June 1st 2023, Harvey Msimuko returned back to his home village. Then the village headman Chilundanya brought him to Rumphi Police and he revealed that he was staying at Phoka area where he was working as a tenant at a certain farm and he also revealed particulars of his boss.

Thereafter, police detectives reviewed the files opened and hence the arrest of the trio who will be taken before court of law to answer the charges levelled against them.

Meanwhile, The Officer In-charge Mr Pherson Nthenda Assistant Commissioner of Police has strongly condemned the malpractice of breaching others’ peace without actual evidence.

He further urged community members to have a dialogue when there is misunderstanding and that any perpetrators will be brought to justice.
